Youth Hostel Vianden

The common room is roomy, though it stays locked for much of the day, when nobody is at reception either. That's just how the place runs, so it's useful to know. There’s also a seating area outside the hostel, and it was generally quiet. My son and I had a private room with clean sheets and enough space, plus a sink, table, chairs, and a closet with hangers. Breakfast was okay, with milk, cereal, cheese, ham, bread, coffee, and tea, but no fresh produce. Some fresh vegetables and a piece of fruit would have been nice. The location is superb, right below Vianden Castle.

It’s a quiet, cool place near the castle, in a charming spot that feels away from the rush of everyday life. The staff are friendly, and the shared rooms are comfortable enough. We enjoyed walking in the nearby forest by the river and coming back refreshed. I’d happily visit again.

The rooms could use better equipment, and the place doesn't feel very comfortable. The atmosphere isn't great.

The owner was friendly and enjoyed chatting with us. From our room, the castle was in view, which was really cool, and the hostel is very close to it. The building feels old and definitely needs renovation. Bathrooms and showers aren't available on every floor. Our room was just okay, nothing particularly good or bad, and breakfast was pretty standard. The food at lunch or dinner was cheap, but not good. Still, it wasn't a bad place to spend the night, and the beautiful city made up for most of the discomfort.
