Hôtel restaurant Beim Schlass

In my opinion, this place isn’t a hotel. There was no reception, and when I arrived nobody answered the phone. After I emailed, they sent a copy-and-paste message with a PIN code. The car park was uneven cobblestone and unsuitable for motorcycles, and it didn’t feel secure. Other guests told me the restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so there’s no food then. It feels like an Air BnB posing as a hotel on Booking.com. They charged me a £121 no-show fee, though I’d say the owners were the ones who didn’t show any interest in guests. Booking.com wouldn’t uphold my complaint about the misleading description on its site or demand a refund. Avoid.

We stayed four nights in the spacious, cozy loft. The furnishings, decor and equipment were modern and in good shape, and the room service was very good. The hotel was super clean and the staff kind. Wiltz doesn’t have many choices, but they haven’t lowered their standards because of that. It’s a small pity that the staff don’t speak English, though a translator helped us communicate. A small hotel can have little mistakes here and there, but talking with the staff can get them sorted. Check-in is strict, only after 2 pm.

The hotel is right in the heart of Wiltz, across from the town hall, and the staff were welcoming and always ready to help. My room was modern, clean and well equipped. The fridge was especially handy for keeping drinks and snacks. Wiltz is small but charming, with good shops and restaurants, and there’s a large shopping center about a 10-minute drive away. The surrounding countryside is beautiful for walks, hikes and bike rides. I had a wonderful stay and found it good value. I highly recommend Hotel Wiltz for a relaxing vacation in Luxembourg.

We were there for the food during a company offsite, and the experience was a total disappointment. The main issue was how poorly the restaurant handled large groups. There were three big tables at dinner, we started at 7:30 and didn’t leave until just after midnight. The staff were kind and nice, but seemed overwhelmed by the number of people they had to serve. Drinks took a long time, food took a long time, and the food was only good. It’s a pity, because perhaps the place is better in standard operating conditions.
