The rooms are roomy and nicely put together, and the location is great. Some windows face the square street, though, so it can get noisy. You have to decide whether you’d rather have quiet sleep or fresh air.

The room itself was lovely, but several things broke during our stay. The toilet needed its water turned on and off after every use, then stopped flushing altogether on our last day. The sink broke too, and its switch came off. We were also handed a bent key that snapped, so we had to ask for a replacement. On top of all that, there was no soundproofing. We could hear other guests walking and talking.

Breakfast is served across the street at the Goldingen Room, where you also get 10% off lunch and dinner. The place itself is cozy and works well for a night or two while visiting Kuldiga. It’s basic, without much luxury, and there’s no TV, but who needs one?

The breakfast across the street was wonderful, and the staff were great. Rooms are modern, clean, and cozy, and the location is excellent. Sound insulation wasn’t very good, but with so few guests around it didn’t cause a problem.

A quaint, comfortable spot, though light sleepers may be bothered by the gambling hall next door. The reception is across the main square, about 60 m (180 yards) away.
