It felt more like being at home than staying in a hotel, which mattered most to us. The place is very clean, the rooms are spacious, and the service was perfect. There’s no breakfast, but plenty of good spots nearby for anything from breakfast to dinner. We cooked some light meals in the well-equipped room kitchen and enjoyed them. The Central Market and supermarkets are a short walk away. The hotel is in a central part of Riga, and walking around is easy and worthwhile.

For €25 for one person, this was one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in at this price. The room was really clean and had its own kitchen supplies and fridge. Reception were kind and helpful, and let us leave our bags after checkout. The main downside was street noise, both during the day and at night.

I stayed four nights at Aurum. The hotel is new and modern, with a friendly receptionist, and it’s well placed for short walks to the Old Town and parks. The busy road right beside it is hard to ignore, though. The old windows let a lot of traffic noise into the room. There’s no cleaning service, which was fine, but some equipment to sweep the floors would’ve helped. There was no toaster, the fridge was small, and the shower sometimes had no hot water. It was an okay stay, though for the price it didn’t feel like a five-star experience.
