Elizabete Design Hotel

They’d confirmed our check-in time, but when we arrived the door was locked. It took three phone calls to get inside, and then we waited about 20 minutes for the receptionist, who was rude. We were threatened with losing our booking without a refund. It was a terrible experience.

The neighborhood is lovely and very quiet. Our room and breakfast were decent value, though neither was particularly good. One shower door was broken, and the AC smelled when switched on, possibly because of a dirty filter. The low rating also reflects organizational problems, though your experience may go better. At the last minute, our reservation was moved here from a central hotel in the same chain because of some unspecified issue on their end. They offered rides to and from the train station but mishandled the service both ways, so I had to sort it out myself. They eventually refunded the cost. Since they caused the problem, I can only be mildly thankful.

It’s in a good location, and the staff go out of their way to help. I enjoyed my stay, even though the shower flooded the bathroom. I’d come back.

It was cheap, but I’d have rather paid more for somewhere better. The staff couldn’t speak English, breakfast was a joke, and the breakfast room was dirty. Our room was only cleaned on some days, and we found things left by past guests under the bed. I’ve stayed in much better hostels.
