Gogol Park Hotel

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a comfortable, hygienic stay. There was visible grime in several places, and the facilities overall were in poor condition. The staff seemed indifferent, and the atmosphere wasn’t welcoming. Cash was the only acceptable payment, and they gave no receipt. Unfortunately, my recent stay was disappointing.

The staff were really friendly, and the place was clean and felt safe. That’s about all I can praise, though: the rooms are small, the beds uncomfortable, the street traffic is loud, and breakfast is mediocre at best. Still, where else do you get a double room with breakfast for €34? I’d stay again on a budget for just a few nights.

The place is plain-looking from outside, but everything worked out fine. The rooms are unusual and not especially big, and it’s cash only. We walked to the Old Town; the bus might have been quicker and easier, but we didn’t mind walking. Finding street parking was no problem.

The service was easy and quick, and the staff were consistently polite and clear. They handled extra requests within an hour, even outside normal working hours. I arrived on August 25, 2021, and they made both my 23:00 check-in and 06:30 checkout simple. The instructions sent beforehand were detailed, though finding the place was easy anyway. For the low price, I was pleasantly surprised by the lovely, clean room and all the basics I wanted: Wi-Fi, an outlet, private bathroom, towels, and a kettle with tea and coffee. I missed breakfast because of my early checkout, but I’d recommend the hotel and keep it in mind for future trips to Riga.
