The first three nights were quiet and comfortable, but the last one was a different story. A group of party guests were put next door, and their bass-heavy music and dancing went on well past midnight. We couldn’t sleep, which was especially frustrating with a late flight home the next day. The guests made rude comments about me after I asked them to stop the party. The room had a modern, comfortable setup, including a high-quality LG OLED TV and Bose sound system. That’s nice for watching and listening, but loud music carries through the walls, so there should be rules for using it at night. There were also two private saunas you could book any time, which was a great feature, though the bucket for pouring water over the stones was missing. Breakfast was very nice, and the restaurant was perfectly fine. The lady at reception handled the noise situation poorly and left me to deal with the disruptive guests in the lobby when they were asked to turn the music down.

I enjoyed staying at A22 and would happily return on another trip to Riga. My suite was spacious, quiet, and comfortable. The hotel is in a residential area, but close to “central” Riga, with cafes, bars, restaurants, and plenty of cultural attractions within easy walking distance.

The motion-sensor bathroom lights kept switching off while I was showering or bathing. You had to open the door in complete darkness and step out to trigger them again. With a baby, that could be tricky, though luckily my child is a bit older and I didn’t have to manage a slippery floor and a little one in the dark. I can’t remember seeing this setup at another hotel, maybe for good reason. For families, there were lots of thoughtful extras beyond the usual baby crib: a baby bathtub, potty, kids’ shampoos and lotions, a changing sheet, and wet wipes. We don’t usually pick family-friendly hotels, so I can’t say whether that’s typical of places aimed at families. A nice receptionist also gave our child a plush toy, which made her over the moon. There’s a fantastic new playground in the park right across the road. That was the main reason we chose this hotel over another one starting with H, with great views of the old town rooftops. Parking at A22 was much easier too.

We stayed for two comfortable nights in December. Our room was ready when we arrived at 10:30am, and it was clean and nicely furnished. Having a hotel sauna was a lovely extra in the freezing weather. There was some confusion over breakfast. One receptionist said it was included when we checked in, then another said it wasn’t at checkout. They sorted it out quickly and gracefully in the end.
