Happy Hotel

For the price, it's acceptable. The rooms are okay, though the beds are small, the bathroom is small, and there's no AC. You can't expect AC in most Baltic hotels, anyway. One thing tourists should know: the staff don't speak English.

It's a pretty unusual setup, more like a hostel than a hotel: two capsules in the room and a shared bathroom outside. The capsule gives you total privacy when closed, and the bed is big. There's a TV inside, but no phone charging plug in the capsule, only an old type B slot on the TV. There are plugs in the room outside the capsule, and no shelf inside for your things. The bathroom and shower are new and clean. There's no AC, but the wifi is pretty strong. A good place to spend a night.

We stayed for two nights on our first visit to Riga. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the shower had warm water, and the staff were nice. Grocery shops, including Maxima, are nearby, and there's a parking lot. I think there's a kitchen too, though I didn't get the chance to check it out. It's a comfortable, affordable hotel, and I'd recommend it if that's what you're looking for.

The place had a friendly feel despite there being quite a few other guests. There are shops and restaurants within about a 20-minute walk, and plenty of parking spaces, though many were already occupied. The rooms are practical but undecorated. The beds are firm, yet surprisingly comfortable.
