M5 self-service Boutique Hotel

The check-in was straightforward and smooth. The hotel is right in the center of the Old Town, and while the rooms aren’t very large, they’re comfortable and nicely furnished. The ceiling details are beautiful, and the tiled bathroom is nice too. It has quite an Art Nouveau feel.

We spent four nights here that I’d rather forget. The room itself could have been acceptable, but there were too many serious problems: a broken toilet seat, a clogged shower that wouldn’t drain, hard mattresses, and thin curtains that let in too much light. We messaged about getting these issues fixed, but nothing happened. I have back pain and asked for two extra pillows because the one provided was practically nonexistent. They said they’d sort it out the next day, then never did or got back to us. On our last day, we asked politely if they could arrange an early morning taxi since we don’t speak Latvian. They just told us to use the Bolt app. The service and hospitality were terrible.

There’s no breakfast, though plenty of good shops are nearby, including some excellent bagels. The location was great for reaching the main attractions and shops on foot. Our room was spacious, clean, bright and quiet, and the bed was comfortable. The curtains did let in quite a bit of light at night.

Great central location, but the rooms are really small for two people.
