Monika Centrum Hotels

I don't usually post negative reviews, but I feel it's needed this time. The stay itself was great, and the staff were very polite. The exception was bartender Alice. She was away from the lobby bar for long stretches, and when she was there, she acted as though serving us was a hassle. We only wanted another beer.

The location is a real plus, beside a beautiful park and close to the old city center. Breakfast was a decent continental spread, though the reception staff could be more welcoming, and the entrance stairs need a proper handrail. The hotel feels like a museum and needs a lot of renovation before it can really earn four stars. There’s no heating system in the rooms, so I wouldn't choose it in cold weather. The windows need better insulation and make it feel as if they’re always open. Walls were dirty and stained, the carpet was quite old, and the TV could be bigger and offer more than three channels. The bathroom needs a new shower and something better than a curtain, perhaps glass. The sink is so narrow that it’s hard to set out your own toiletries. There’s potential here, but it needs a lot of investment.

The sauna was nice, though for some reason it had no light. Breakfast had a good selection, but the buffet was crowded each morning. Our junior suite had no view, but it was clean, quiet and spacious. The hotel is peaceful and set in a really beautiful area, and the staff were friendly. I'd stay again.

The room was a really nice size and everything was good. I could pick at the shower, but honestly, it's a great hotel.
