Old City Boutique Hotel

The room design was beautiful, and the hotel is in the old town, within an easy walk of the airport bus station. The room price wasn't cheap, though, and there are plenty of good hotels in Riga. If I return, I think I'd stay somewhere else.

We were on the top floor in a deluxe room for three. It was clean and airy, and the staff were very polite and welcoming. The hotel is right in the heart of the old town. The restored remains of old brick walls inside were a cool feature. Before we left, we asked for a kettle to make a thermos, and they brought us a whole tea and coffee set with cups, teabags, coffee, and the kettle.

We got an online deal, so the price felt fair. The place was clean, but nothing especially memorable, and not really at four-star level. Its spot in the old town was outstanding. The restaurant was temporarily closed during our visit in August 2016. Breakfast was pretty awful, but across the street there's an awesome waffle, omelet, pancake, burger, and beer place called Street Fries Kitchen that we'd recommend.

The location was good, and the front desk and entrance lobby were nice. Our room, though, had lots of dust and little bits of dirt, the minibar fridge was very loud, and we each got only one pillow. I've never before been able to open a window at that height. It doesn't seem safe if you have children or sleepwalkers with you.
