The roaches have ruined things for me, and I ended up having to move to another RTU dorm, even though I'm a LU student. The building needs frequent, systematic pest control. If that happened, the whole place would be better. Keep every bit of food sealed or in a fridge or bread box. I spent money on traps, and they only helped somewhat. The infestation seems neglected by staff. The number of roaches is ridiculous and inexcusable. It spoils the desire to cook and can disgust you enough to feel sick. The rooms are okay, service is fine, and the location is great, with two malls nearby, though it's somewhat far from the center. Kitchen messes seem to make the problem worse. I've repeatedly seen foreign students, exchange students or otherwise, leave the third-floor kitchen dirty after cooking, turning it into a breeding ground. Please warn or penalize them somehow. Local Latvian students often complain about what they see as foreigners neglecting basic hygiene and consideration. There's also a foreign couple who regularly smoke right beside the dorm entrance. I've had to tell them off several times, since the smoke travels to the upper floors and makes me close my window, even though I'm a non-smoker.

It’s affordable, especially for RTU students arriving in Latvia for the first time. The only issue is the occasional cockroach.

RTU students will find this dorm affordable and convenient. It’s about a 10-minute walk to buses and trams, and there’s a supermarket nearby. RTU’s free Wi-Fi is available, and each room has an ethernet cable you can use with a laptop or router. The five-floor building has single rooms with or without washrooms, plus shared rooms for two or three. Each floor has two common kitchens and toilets at both ends, while showers are only on the ground floor. Every room has a fridge. Cleaning staff take care of the kitchens, washrooms and other shared areas in the mornings, except on Saturdays and Sundays.

Maxima and Akropole Alfa are very close by, and you may find a Bolt scooter outside. Most floors have unfurnished rooms. Cockroaches get into the kitchen through gaps in the walls and ceilings.
