This was the worst hotel I've stayed at in Riga so far, and also the most expensive. I held off writing this until I had calmed down, and I'm now discussing it with booking.com. I emailed the hotel through booking.com in the morning to ask if an evening check-in would be okay, since our plane landed at 8 p.m. There was no reply. The Bolt Taxi driver didn't know there was a hotel there. When we arrived, the front door was shut, with only a paper showing a mobile number. We walked around and found an open door, but inside it was dark. After hearing noise, I knocked on a room and an old woman came out, unaware of what was going on. I showed her the booking.com bill, and she called the owner, who told her to give us a room. We were shocked by the room: no toilet paper, dirty bedsheets, no soap, and everything was dirty. I went downstairs for toilet paper, then went back again, but the woman locked her room and ignored us. Look at the pictures and stay away from this nightmare.

The place is near the market, and you can get to the city center on tram line 7 or in about 15 minutes on foot. There's free parking, but it's unsecured. The staff are never around, so when you arrive, call them or look around the building. Nearby there's basically nothing else, no shops, restaurants, or parks. It's a nice, clean hotel and pretty good if you want to stay cheaply and sort out your own food and drinks. I would stay there again.

It's only acceptable. The room wasn't great, the toilet smelled, and there was nowhere to make coffee or tea. It's fairly close to the old town, about 10 to 15 minutes' walk to the train station and 20 minutes to the old town.
