The location worked well, with the Central Market and park an easy walk away. The breakfast room is lovely, and the staff were excellent and really personable. My room felt cramped, and the elevator was out when I visited. Still, this is an adequate budget hotel, and Riga's beautiful, eccentric character is part of the fun.

The room was comfortable and a good size, and I was happy with the price and the hotel's access to a large shopping centre and the historic sights, churches, and lovely buildings in Riga's old centre. I stayed five nights. The problem came when I was asked to sign a paper without effective explanation. It didn't mention that the fridge was stocked with drinks, including wine, whisky, and vodka. Before leaving, I learned the minibar wasn't included in the original price and had to pay for it. Some of the women at reception were rude and handled the situation unprofessionally.

The staff at reception were friendly, but the economy double room was unbelievably cramped, hardly larger than a toilet. The rug was worn and dirty, the walls had large stains, and the TV looked ancient. The mattress was only about 15-20 cm thick and very uncomfortable, while the bed frame seemed made for a much thicker one. We booked at the last minute because we were on a budget. Even at the low price, I know you can get much more for your money.

The rooms facing the street stay noisy around the clock, and the internet in room 310 was weak and unreliable. The corners also need a thorough vacuuming. Breakfast was decent, though repetitive. The location is excellent, only a few metres from the Central Railway Station, so it's a good choice for a short stay.
