Atlas Widan

We stayed at the Atlas Widan hotel in Morocco for a company seminar. The setting was a real highlight: the Atlas Mountains looked breathtaking in the distance, and we liked sitting by the pool to enjoy the view. The hotel was well maintained, with comfortable rooms and plenty of amenities. The staff made a big difference. They arranged transport so we could explore the nearby town, brought us snacks and drinks, and quickly fixed a small bathroom issue. From check-in onward, they were welcoming and made sure we were comfortable. I’d recommend the Atlas Widan hotel to anyone visiting Marrakech who wants a relaxing stay with beautiful scenery and helpful service.

We left a day early after a deeply unpleasant dispute over a taxi fare. Reception quoted us 150Dhs each way, verbally and in writing, for the only way into town, since the hotel is 30 minutes from anything. The driver then wanted 250 each way. I raised the mismatch with staff, and the manager first said they’d cover the difference. Five minutes later, he came to our room, said he had “changed his mind,” and demanded the higher amount while my family and I were having dinner. It felt like we were being pressured to pay for the staff’s mistake, and my children felt unsafe. The manager’s manner was unpleasant and unprofessional. Update: Mustafa, I’m glad you replied. Your contempt for guests who raise a legitimate complaint is clear. Your accusation that I was racist is false, and seems to me like another attempt to distract from your staff’s error. A basic acknowledgement of a misunderstanding and a small goodwill gesture could have defused things. Instead, you abused your guests. It’s especially troubling given your role as General Secretary of the tourist association in Marrakech. That position doesn’t excuse this conduct. You’ve done tourism in Marrakech a serious disservice and should be ashamed of how you handled this.

The calm setting made it easy to relax and get to know the other guests. The team were so friendly, helpful, and fun to spend time with. They also made sure my special diet, gluten free, felt just as well catered for as anyone else’s. And the spa was lovely. Asma is kind and a great masseuse. I really want to thank the whole team!

We came to Atlas Widan for our friend’s wedding, and the team helped make it such a beautiful occasion. The Moroccan menu had lots of dining options for different tastes, and the food was excellent. Our room was lovely, with a great view of the surroundings. The staff were professional and consistently went out of their way to make us comfortable. Their local knowledge and recommendations added a lot to our trip. Thank you to everyone at Atlas Widan. I loved the details throughout our stay and hope to return.
