The Oberoi Marrakech

The service made our stay at the Oberoi Marrakech especially memorable. Rachid and the rest of the team were warm, attentive and clearly wanted us to have a lovely time. The grounds are beautiful, the property is cared for down to the details, and the food was outstanding, particularly at the Indian restaurant. My four-year-old son carried a stuffed camel everywhere. When housekeeping noticed it was starting to tear, they offered to take it to the “doctor.” A few hours later, we found it neatly stitched and sitting on the bed as good as new. It was a small, thoughtful gesture that meant a lot to us. We can't wait to return.

The Riyawat restaurant served one of the best Indian meals I've ever had, and breakfast was excellent too. The Oberoi Marrakech is among the finest hotels in Marrakech, with beautiful grounds and superb service. Its new buildings are tastefully designed, drawing on Arab and Berber artisan traditions through carved marble and wood and beautiful tiles. Reception staff were superb. Anas, the concierge, Mr.Mamdouh, the rooms director, and Sumit, the chef at Ritawat, all went out of their way to please us. The departure experience felt strange and uncomfortable. The golf buggy driver loaded our bags and seated us, but instead of taking us to the car transfer area, he went into our rooms to check the suites for 5-10 minutes while we waited outside. Another cart stopped behind us, and a uniformed employee followed him into the room. We'd never had staff inspect our rooms as we were leaving before. The hotel is far from the Medina, so it's not an ideal base if you want to explore Marrakech's neighborhoods.

Away from the city center, The Oberoi, Marrakech offers a relatively peaceful setting with views toward the Atlas Mountains. Its position in Marrakech's ultra-luxury market is matched by a blend of comfort, privacy and Moroccan architectural character. The property combines classical details such as arches, intricate plasterwork and zellige tiles with contemporary comfort. It sits in extensive Mediterranean gardens inspired by traditional Andalusian layouts. Rooms, suites and private villas make up the accommodation, and many villas have their own swimming pools, supporting a quiet, secluded stay with personalized service. Facilities include several restaurants serving Moroccan and international food, a fully integrated spa and wellness center, and spaces for events and private functions.

Watching the sun set over the Atlas Mountains each evening was one of my favorite parts of staying at Oberoi. The hotel itself is stunning, from the rooms and gardens to the public spaces, and the spa and gym may be the most beautiful I've seen in a luxury hotel. The service was just as impressive. Everyone was gracious and welcoming, and the staff paid close attention to what we needed. Mamdouh Milad has built a terrific team as GM. This was one of the best hotels I've stayed at, and I'd recommend it to families, couples or friends visiting Marrakesh. It gave us memories we'll keep for a lifetime.
