Maison d'hotes kasbah Tifaoute

We found Kasbah Tifaoute guest house in Assfalou to be a peaceful, comfortable base, just three kilometers from Ait Benhaddou. The rooftop has wide mountain views, lovely for coffee at sunrise or tea at sunset, and there's a local shop nearby for snacks or essentials. The rates felt very reasonable for the location and what you get. The rooms have traditional Moroccan furnishings and décor, while still being comfortable, and the guest house has fast, reliable WiFi. It was quiet and relaxing after exploring the area, with private ensuite facilities as well. A charming mix of local character and comfort. I highly recommend it and hope to return.

I feel bad writing this because the host is a kind man, but I wish we'd known about the bugs. There were little moth flies breeding under the bed sheets, and we saw at least five cockroaches during the night. We kept our bags closed and up off the floor, thinking where there are two there may be hundreds, as they say. The rooms are cute otherwise, and the place has potential if the bug problem can be fixed.

The host made us feel very welcome and cooked a fantastic dinner. Breakfast was pretty good too. I had a really comfortable bed, a piping hot shower, and fast WiFi. There was secure parking for my motorcycle as well. Fantastic stay at Kasbah Tifaoute, highly recommend it.

We found the bathroom especially inconvenient: there's no shower curtain, so the toilet and everything else gets wet when you shower. The room lighting was poor too, just one bulb in an opening between the bedroom and bathroom, and it barely lit the space. The walls are paper-thin, so we could hear the neighbors and street. The rooms had only the bare minimum for sleeping. Worst accommodation of our trip.
