Erfoud Palace Hotel’s pool looked impressive in the photos and was grand when we saw it, with a large stretch of water and a fountain at one end. But the water was dirty. I saw flying insects dive in and swim around, and a fellow tour mate said there was algae along the pool sides. Our ground-floor room was clean and spacious, with hot water ready to go. It was simple, though, and not as grand as the Xaluca Dades, where we’d stayed the night before. The TV had ten channels in different languages, including two in English as well as Spanish, German, and local languages. It made me think about Erfoud’s cosmopolitan past as a place where people came to trade. For the full review and details of our five months of Round The World (RTW) travels, visit 2bearbear today!

The evening meal was a highlight: soup, quiche, ox tail tagine, then fruit, and it was a welcome change from our other meals in Morocco. We stopped here overnight after travelling from Fes on our tour. Our en suite room had twin beds, a TV, and tea and coffee making facilities. There’s an outdoor pool with sunbeds and chairs, too. Some parts of the hotel are dated, but we thought that added to its charm and are happy to recommend it.

We loved staying here. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant food was great. Abdul salam the boss provided really nice service and called the kitchen.

There’s no elevator, and the food was unremarkable. Compared with the other hotels we stayed at on this trip, though, it wasn’t bad. The place looks dated now, but I imagine it was glorious in its heyday. The lobby still looks grand.
