Riad La Maison Verte

The location pin for Raid La Maison Verte on Google Maps is a little off and takes you to a different riad. The easiest way to get there is to go to Palais de Fes, their sister riad nearby, and ask them to show you the way. There’s no pool at Raid La Maison Verte. The pool in the pictures may just be decoration and belongs to another sister riad, which I didn’t visit. This is an excellent hotel in the Fes medina, with a beautiful inner yard and especially lovely rooms. Breakfast on the rooftop is outstanding and delicious, and the WiFi is fast and stable. The company owns three riads close to each other, and guests can access all of them.

Hishaam, the manager in charge, was friendly, hospitable, and accommodating. Breakfast was filling and served at our table. The bathroom was better than we expected, and the room felt warm and eventually like home in this quaint little Riad in the old Madinah of Fes. A lovely experience, apart from there being no kettle with tea or coffee in the room.

Some rooms are actually windowless dens, with decorative windows instead, so make sure to ask for a room with real windows. The riad belongs to the Dar-Tazi properties, the same as palais de Fès. It’s beautiful and the staff are friendly, but despite the motto “eternal serenity,” it can get rowdy, with the phone constantly ringing and staff shouting around. Be alert about anything people might “offer” you in Morocco. Take a red “small” taxi to or from the medina, which costs 20 DH. When staff “offer” to pick you up, it just means they signal their buddies that tourists are coming and the “rip off” feast can begin. An unfortunate reality in an otherwise beautiful land.

Great people, a nice spot, and delicious Moroccan food. Best experience ever.
