Riad Mabrouka

The riad itself was gorgeous and inspiring, in a great, easy-to-find location. Breakfast was simple but filling, and the staff were kind and attentive. Just know there’s no “Do not disturb” sign, so they’ll clean the room every day whether you want that or not. I’d rate the stay higher if it weren’t for the private guide the host recommended. He knew the history and his way around the medina, but kept taking us to shops charging 5-10 times the normal price and pushed us to buy, apparently for a commission. Even when we asked to see historical sights instead, he took us to more stores. We lost a whole day in Fes and still had to pay him €50 after he scammed us.

My wife and I had a fantastic hammam and massage here, and we’d highly recommend it. We’d tried another hammam the day before, but it didn’t come close to the quality at Ryad Mabrouka. If you want a proper place to bathe and relax, it’s absolutely worth a visit.

This turned out to be the best Riad we stayed at in Morocco. The room was large, the bathroom a good size, and it had a bathtub. The staff were very friendly and gave us lots of information, with Brian being the best. Breakfast and dinner were good too. Before we got there, activities in Fes meant we couldn’t enter until they were over, so we spent some time just outside the city. We saw a lot of tombs and climbed a hill thinking it was a fort, only to find it was a tomb site.

The staff were all so polite and friendly. We came for a hammam and massage, and loved it, even though it left us disappointed by the hammams and massages we tried elsewhere afterward. It was our first hammam. I’d come back if I return to Fes.
