We had reserved an apartment through Booking.com, but when we arrived, the manager, who could only be reached by phone, told us to cancel because he had a better apartment for us. The replacement was a letdown: it smelled unpleasant, looked dated, and didn’t resemble the Booking photos. The stay fell short of what we expected. I’d suggest looking at Google reviews first, since several other travelers seem to have run into similar problems.

The owner was very responsive. The living and dining area was spacious, with what looked like freshly painted walls and new cushions or covers on a large seating area. There was also a gas heater, which we were grateful for because the weather was very cold and wet while we were in town. The accommodation is basic, with two beds, a bathroom, and a kitchen equipped with a gas stove, cooking gear, and cutlery. It could have been cleaner, and the bathroom needed the same attention.

The treatment was very poor. I arrived with my family after making a reservation and getting confirmation, only to be told the room wasn’t available. They asked me to cancel and offered another apartment instead. It had one bedroom rather than two, wasn’t clean, and cost the same. It felt like a whole setup to avoid paying Booking. We left the hotel.
