Amanar Marrakech Boutique Hotel & Riad

Hasan made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived and was always around when we needed help. His recommendations for places to visit were brilliant. Amanar is beautifully designed, with care in every detail, and feels calm and peaceful even though it’s right in the middle of Marrakech. The surroundings are stunning, and the whole stay felt special. One of the best places I’ve stayed. I’d absolutely recommend it if you’re visiting Marrakech.

The homemade breakfasts were delicious, and the whole Amanar team looked after us from the moment we arrived. The riad is beautiful, in the Dar Bâcha area of the Medina, on a main street that’s easy to reach. Inside, though, it feels like a peaceful oasis away from the busy streets. We had a truly wonderful stay, and it’s a place that makes you want to return.

Hasan was a fantastic host, and breakfast was delicious every morning. The building has been restored with traditional moroccan skills, and our room was stylish and beautifully furnished. Inside, the riad was completely quiet, though it’s only a short walk to Le Jardin Secret and the souks. Taxis are easy to get just outside for farther trips. We really enjoyed our stay and I’m already looking forward to another visit.

Hasan and the staff were lovely, and it’s a pretty little riad, but the problems made me unlikely to return. The bathrooms smelled of sewerage, which made it hard to sleep, and we saw several cockroaches, including one flying around our room at night after the staff had left for the day. We were moved to another room, where traffic noise kept us awake all night. There were no curtains, so it was also very bright by 7am. I spoke at length with the owner, and they refunded one of our four nights. The riad is new and has some teething issues, but I still think it’s expensive for what it offers.
