Appart Hotel Amina Resort & Spa

The apartments were clean and had all the equipment we needed. The staff were wonderful, and the location was great.

We expected a relaxing spa hotel outside the medina, but the description and the place we arrived at were very different. There was no sauna or spa area, and the pool looked disgusting. There wasn’t a whirlpool either. When we asked about the sauna, we were told we could book a hamam for the day after tomorrow. The apartment was clean apart from the floor, and it was quiet, but the furniture was old and nowhere near as fancy as the listing suggested. The stay was okay, but this felt like a regular hotel, not a resort, and was completely overpriced for what we got.

The apartment was nice and clean, and the heater and air conditioning were handy for cold nights and warm days. We didn’t cook much, but the necessary utensils were there. The bathroom and kitchen could use some renovation, and unfortunately the pool was empty and seemed to be under renovation during our stay. The location was convenient, just a five-minute walk from the shopping mall. A female receptionist helped us find nearby medication, and Isham, the very welcoming and helpful receptionist, told us about Moroccan food and landscapes on our first night. His love for Marrakesh, his home, was lovely to hear and inspired our trip. He was such a warm, kind person, a wonderful introduction to the people of Morocco.

The place needs a serious renovation. The Wi-Fi barely worked, the old towels should be used as rags, and the bathrooms are falling apart. The staff were very nice and responsive, the sheets were clean, and the location was central. Breakfast was good, though it cost 80 MAD per person, and you could walk down to Paul instead.
