B&B Riad Al Barad

The rooms were small and dirty, with no windows or fresh air, and the pillows and covers were filthy. The photos on booking sites didn't show the rooms we were given. When we raised it with the manager, he still charged us half the price and offered no explanation for the difference from the online listing. This felt like a tourist trap. Better to stay somewhere else.

We booked this riad, then were told we'd have to stay at another riad that belonged to it. When we arrived, they were supposedly cleaning our room. The house was beautiful, but the room was filthy and smelled like a cat litter box, with cat pee spots on the walls. The manager didn't care when we complained. I love cats, but there can be too much of a good thing. All night, cats waited outside and tried to get into our room, maybe because it was usually theirs. It was scary and we couldn't sleep. In the morning, we saw cat waste and the remains of dead birds and mice all over the terrace and elsewhere in daylight. We changed riads for the rest of our stay.

They told us we could park outside, but we couldn't, and they marched us down the road. We were then marched to another Riad, presumably because they were overbooked, only to be marched back here for breakfast in the morning. Ridiculous. On the day we left, he asked us not to write a bad review. He lied to us twice, so why would I leave a good one?

I can only give it one star because zero isn't an option. Worst place ever. It was dirty, which I could understand for the price, but the room was full of roaches. The manager said that was normal in Marrakesh and wouldn't refund us when we said we wanted to leave. He also joked that we weren't "men enough," saying only children complain about roaches.
