Dar Al Sultan

The city was easy to explore on foot from this well-located riad, and we also had a great day trip arranged through them. For your first arrival, I’d take the advice to arrange a pickup. After that, finding your way was easy, and the streets were well lit at night. We stayed several days and loved the beautifully decorated place, which felt like stepping back in time. The King room’s private rooftop terrace made a lovely spot to unwind before heading out for a late dinner.

We were met with a beautifully set breakfast table, fresh homemade bread and marmalade, perfect coffee, little tarts, and homemade curd. The bedroom was clean, with crisp white sheets and duvets, and the bathroom was tidy with a good shower and lovely towels. Inside Riad Dar al Sultan, the double courtyard, Romanesque plunge pool, plants, arabesque details, and decor all made a striking, peaceful space. Small songbirds came and went, adding to the charm. The lane was free of motorcycles, though the riad is still in the Medina proper. It’s a very hidden gem, with a calm atmosphere that might surprise you. The owner was fantastic and helpful, and the staff were lovely and relaxed. Really great place.

The room was spotless, and they tidied and restocked it every day. The location was excellent, the staff great, and breakfast delicious. Nothing to fault here.

It felt homely, and you get to know the staff. Breakfast and meals were great, though you need to order meals ahead and they’re quite pricey. The decor is simple but elegant. In December it was freezing because the place doesn’t hold heat well, and the mattress was extremely hard. Apart from that, a great stay.
