Hôtel Central Palace

It may not be a luxurious place, but it works well if you’re the kind of tourist who mainly needs somewhere to sleep. The price is great, breakfast was good, and the staff were especially friendly and helpful. They can assist you in any language. The location also suits a first-time visitor, including arriving late at night from the main attractions.

We spent three nights here, and staying at the hotel was the one unpleasant part of our time in Marrakech. The rooms we booked weren’t the rooms we were given, and they were cramped, old, and terrible. Staff were arrogant and unhelpful. A friend’s room didn’t work properly on the first day, and almost all the rooms we booked lacked hot water. My friend also had souvenirs taken from a drawer. Everything went wrong. Worst accommodation, absolutely wouldn’t recommend it.

After several nights in different riads and hotels around Marrakech, this was our last stop, and by far the worst experience. The place was filthy: mold on the walls, dirty sheets and towels, and so much dust in the air. We don’t want to repeat that stay. One night we got back around 3 in the morning and found the entrance locked. We knocked for several minutes before someone came to let us in. He was furious and impossible to talk to. The way he spoke to and looked at us made us fear for our safety. He was a horrible person working the night of January 1st to 2nd, and I don’t think someone like that should work with people.

The location was the one good thing about this hotel. I paid for one of the more expensive rooms, with its own bathroom, but the bathroom didn’t work and we had to use the shared one. The first room couldn’t be locked from inside, though they were able to move us. There were no usual room items, not even a kettle, and the hotel was extremely loud, with paper-thin walls that made sleep impossible even with earplugs. The room was much colder than outside in winter, and the AC didn’t heat it. Staff were helpful, but that doesn’t make up for the high price. Breakfast felt like a rip-off: they charged €5 for food from the small restaurant next door, which charges €4.
