Hotel Islane's rooftop terrace has a striking view of the Koutoubia Mosque, with the minaret seeming almost within reach above the busy Medina. It's an easy place to slow down over coffee or an evening drink, and the skyline makes it feel almost like a scene from a film. A gentle breeze adds to the relaxed, quietly charming atmosphere. The menu is simple, but suits the terrace well, and the service is warm and unpretentious. Prices may be a little higher than at nearby cafes, though the view makes it worthwhile. You could stop here for breakfast, a sunset aperitif or a breather between wandering through the souks. Try to arrive just before sunset: the Koutoubia catches the golden light, and the call to prayer drifts softly over the city. It's a quietly magical glimpse of Marrakech's timeless soul.

I can recommend coming here to eat, based on our Sunday visit at noon. We didn't stay here. The terrace was clean and tidy, with a great outlook, and staff were around to serve us the whole time. They were friendly and efficient. The food was good quality, and the bill came to less than we expected. They serve wine too. I'd go back.

I was there in 2012-2013, so it's been a while. During a massage, while I was naked on the table, the Hammam massager kept trying to kiss me. He answered the door partway through and spoke in his language with another man. Huge red flags, ladies and gentlemen. I was terrified. I was thankfully alive when I got out of there, but I didn't tell the staff because I was afraid I'd be put in jail or worse. I had dinner on the rooftop and realized the hotel manager serving me was the same man who does the massages. He sat with me and a bottle of something, tried to invite himself back to my room, and said he wanted to have sex with me because he liked me. I said no, and after what felt like forever, he finally left me alone. The key to my door made me feel like he could come in at any time during any of the nights I stayed there. I was really scared. I highly do not recommend this place, and I'm sorry I didn't post this sooner.

Lovely spot for taking in the atmosphere, with a great view of the medina. The vegetarian option doesn't work, but the veggie dish itself is good. Get double.

Really good place and food. I had the spaghetti arrabica. Thanks to Dunya and Kawtar, who were so kind and welcoming. I'll definitely come back!
