La Kasbah Alili

The beds had stains, and this was one of the worst places I've stayed. Don't rely on the Booking.com reviews.

The rooms were very plain, and honestly too modest for the price, especially by Moroccan standards. Worse, while we were there it rained heavily and drops came through the roof onto our heads, waking us in the night. I rarely write reviews like this, but Kasbah Alili really disappointed me more than any hotel before. We raised the leak, and the manager said there wasn't another room because the hotel was full, even though we'd already asked. Then they suggested we move to another room when we only had a couple of hours left to sleep before an early flight. We pushed the bed to the middle of the room to avoid the rain. The next day I asked for compensation because of the awful night, but they minimized what happened and refused. I think offering compensation was the right thing to do. The garden was neglected, with dirty chairs and tables, and even the pool looked brownish. The rooms were dark and unwelcoming, with small windows and very old furniture. The bathroom smelled bad, and the water heater was broken, so I had to shower with bursts of boiling water in between. They didn't even offer breakfast after a late check-in. Catastrophic, one of my worst experiences in Marrakech. Shameful that they call themselves a hotel.

We left after two days because the water was still cold, the rooms smelled terrible, and dinner wasn't always available. It was freezing, and the restaurant heating couldn't be switched on. I spoke with Nordine, paid for those days by card, and left. A few weeks later, the same amount was charged to my credit card, so I've now paid twice. Nordine first said he'd call me back, but after I kept calling, he stopped answering. A terrible stay and a rude way of doing business.
