Hôtel Meriem

The staff were friendly and spoke several languages, including French and English. The rooms were comfortable and clean, with a large bed and extra pillows. I liked that the toilet was in a separate room from the shower and sink. There are two pools, though we didn’t get the chance to use them. We were here on a bus tour through Morocco. The hotel is fairly central, with a short taxi ride to the medina and airport. The included buffet was decent, though not spectacular. Coffee and tea were included, but other drinks weren’t, and the hotel doesn’t serve liquor. There are nearby restaurants where you can get Moroccan food and alcoholic drinks. Bagatelle is a short walk away and has good food and outdoor dining. Good value, and worth staying at. Not bad.

The reception staff, manager, restaurant team, and everyone else were friendly and helpful. I saw that some renovation work had started, but that doesn’t explain why most of the room AC units weren’t working. Without AC to warm the room a little, it was very cold, and after a shower I had to jump straight into bed. That’s why I’d give it only 3 stars.

There are two swimming pools, and the hotel feels spacious and pleasant. It’s out on the outskirts of Marrakech. I just wouldn’t call it a proper 4-star stay. The toilets are tiny, and it would make more sense to have them combined with the bathroom. There are very few power outlets in the rooms, and the ones available often don’t work properly. That really needs fixing. Aside from those issues, there isn’t much to complain about. It’s a budget-friendly place with decent comfort and a relaxed feel.

The hot water, warm room, and good water pressure were all there, which made a difference. The front desk was friendly and helpful, and the bellman was fantastic. This was the best hotel of my stay in Morocco, in my opinion. I’d stay again 1000%.
