Red Castle Hostel - Backpacker

The front desk team made everything easier, especially rabie, who was incredibly kind and helpful. They worked with us throughout our stay and went out of their way to help plan things. We had a great time here, highly recommend it!

The location is good, but for the same price there are better places. Our room had serious damp problems, with wet walls that were falling apart, and the towels were dirty. The so-called pool view was just a tiny window showing half of a 1x1 meter fountain in an inner patio. Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. We even got yelled at when we asked where we could sit for breakfast.

The place itself was nice, though the neighborhood didn't seem like the best. We booked on the website, but when we arrived there was no record of our reservation. Luckily, the man at the front desk was kind and let the three of us young women use his last private room for the night at the price we'd originally agreed on. I'd suggest booking only through hostel world. We stayed somewhere else the following night.

The room had lovely decor and sturdy metal bunk beds that didn't shake or rattle. The roof was also great, with lots of sun and space. But I couldn't use the kitchen at all, and even regular staff couldn't heat food for me. My main concern is safety. In the shower I got a strong electric shock from the wire mesh pipe, enough to make me yell and swear. Another guest had felt electricity on the shower handle too. When I told the man, he spoke down to me, insisting it was only water and pointing to the pipe. He touched it without getting shocked, but he was dry and wearing shoes, so there may have been no path to the floor. The next morning I asked for a refund and got the same explanation, including a claim that it was static electricity, even though water would discharge static. I then got an email from hostelworld saying I hadn't shown up, which meant I couldn't leave a bad review or report the place there. It's a lovely venue, but the safety is questionable and the hosts showed no care or integrity.
