We had an amazing week in the medina of Marrakech. Our air-conditioned room was on the second floor, and there were sunbeds on the terrace upstairs. The pool downstairs was great for cooling off after a long day walking around the TRUE Marrakech. The riad is right in the actual Medina, with busy, chaotic surroundings. I don't mean that as a complaint; it gave us the real feel of the city. If you'd rather have a calm evening indoors, the riad can cook for you for an extra charge. The breakfast and dinner were absolutely wonderful. They also arranged a Hammam and massage for us. Can't recommend it enough if you want the true Marrakech experience. Thank you so much, Riad Ailen, for an amazing week! Note: there's no alcohol served near this riad, so you'd need to go to the main square or the new area of Marrakech.

We’ve just got back to the UK after a fabulous week in Marrakesh, and staying at Riad Ailen made it even more special. The riad was peaceful and relaxing, and we loved it. Naima, Abdul, and Azna made us feel welcome and helped us throughout. Naima’s breakfasts were delicious, and having English tea offered each morning was a lovely surprise. We came in early December for some winter sun and a break from the stresses of life in the West. The riad was spotless and beautifully decorated, with traditional rooms, free WiFi, and no TV. It took a while to find at first, and the area felt a little overwhelming, but that became part of Marrakech’s charm. Hassna and her team were so welcoming. I arrived on my own before my husband, and they looked out for my safety without me having to ask, from walking me to taxis to meeting food delivery people outside. Breakfast was free and lovely. I wish I’d brought some of the dip home, and the orange honey was delightful too. We booked through easyjet and expected a triple room. The room we got was adequate for our stay, though that was the one downside. Thank you 😊

Hassanna made us feel very welcome, and we found the room clean with great service. The walk to the main square took about 25 minutes with our child, though we could also catch a taxi around the corner for roughly £6/£10. We loved staying at Riad Ailen. If a short walk suits you and you want to see life beyond the square, I’d recommend it.
