Riad Altair

The rooms had everything we needed and were extremely comfortable, opening onto a lovely courtyard that made the place feel special. This was our first time in Marrakesh, and we spent three nights at the Riyadh. The airport taxi arranged by the Riyadh had a fixed price and dropped us on the street, where the general manager met us, took our luggage, and led us through the typical dark, narrow alleys. From outside, all you can see is a front door. Inside, the friendly staff were attentive and exceptionally helpful, and the place opened up to the sky in a beautiful courtyard. It was simple, clean, and bijou, but perfect. We hadn’t booked dinner for the first night, so the general manager suggested eating there. We were glad we did. Dinner was wonderful, with typical lamb and rice, simply prepared and beautifully cooked by kitchen staff who were also helpful and friendly. My wife is coeliac, and they did what they could to accommodate her. I’d let them know about specific dietary requests in advance so they can prepare. Breakfast the next morning was generous, well cooked, and well served. We explored the city on Friday and more thoroughly on Saturday. On Sunday, following the general manager’s recommendation, we took a taxi to the Atlas mountains for a personal guided tour, a short half hour walk to see waterfalls, and lunch beside a river. It was definitely worth it. The food and people were excellent, and I’d definitely stay at the Riyadh again.

The staff were so warm and kind, and the breakfasts were delicious. We also had a beautiful evening meal on our last night. During our four nights at Riad Altair, every return felt like coming home to peace after the energy outside. It’s just a five minute walk from the Medina bustle, but inside it feels tranquil, cool, and beautifully decorated. The team welcomed us with mint tea, and we found a birthday banner across the bed, such a thoughtful surprise on my birthday trip to Marrakech. Before we came, I contacted the Riad for help arranging a traditional hammam and a day trip to the Atlas Mountains. Abdou, the manager, organized everything perfectly and made it effortless. We left feeling completely relaxed and cared for. I’d happily recommend Riad Altair and would stay again.

The staff were patient and accommodating with all our questions and requests. There were four of us, all middle aged women, and we had a really lovely stay at this beautiful, quiet, comfortable, serene riad. We could walk to the souks, restaurants, and the Secret Garden. Breakfast was lovely, and dinner was amazing quality and value. It had been recommended to us and lived up to that. Thoroughly recommend! 😊

The location was excellent, and the staff were very cordial. The ambience and food made for an exceptional stay. Breakfast was fresh and yummy, and dinner one night was really good too.
