Our stay at Villa Malak in Marrakech was very disappointing. There were serious damp problems, with a pungent smell in some bedrooms and the main ensuite. It smelled of damp and urine, and was awful and detrimental to one's health. Tide marks ran up some walls, and the wooden floors were swelling and rising, so I can only assume this is an ongoing issue that hasn't been properly dealt with. We were a family of five with two kids, and there weren't enough paper towels in the restrooms. The air conditioning units weren't sufficient to cool the villa in June temperatures. I can only assume the boiler had been turned down, or the water tank wasn't enough to meet demand. The owner, Ahmed, wasn't professional at all. He didn't return the insurance deposit and was really rude to us.

We stayed at this villa for a week as a family, and everything seemed fine until checkout. Then the guy refused to give back the deposit, saying our kids had wet the beds. That simply wasn't true. Our kids had never had a bedwetting accident before, and he kept our $500 even after being paid thousands of dollars. We won't rent from him again. Very dishonest and unethical.

Villa Malak was lovely for a family stay. The villa is very well maintained, and the beds were really comfortable. We especially loved the exceptional decor and swimming in the very clean pool.
