The room was small and lovely, with air conditioning, and breakfast was just right for me: bread and pancakes, spreads, plus tea or coffee. It felt homey, and I’d stay again. My main concern was the door lock, which could be better. Finding the riad was awkward because there are no signs. We took the wrong turn into the dark arched passage straight ahead, where some locals asked where we were going and then showed us the way. They expected payment, which I refused, and they didn’t seem pleased. Turn right when you reach that tunnel instead. There was also some confusion about payment. They couldn’t provide proof of payment because it wasn’t handled by booking.com, and I’d rather have paid on arrival than feel pressed to pay in the evening after a long day out. The language barrier made it harder, and the staff member didn’t seem to understand.

Yassine, the manager, kept checking that we had what we needed and shared useful advice for getting around. Omar at reception greeted us warmly and went out of his way to help. The team’s genuine friendliness made us feel at home. We found the courtyard and other shared spaces quiet and beautifully kept, lovely for sitting with tea. Our clean, cozy room had tasteful traditional Moroccan decoration, and the riad itself felt authentic. It’s also a short walk to Derb Dabachi, with Jemaa el-Fna square and the souks easy to reach, while the area around the riad stays quiet enough to relax after exploring. We had a very comfortable stay and highly recommend Riad Amirwa for its service and convenient location.

We were two women staying six nights, and the location made it easy to come and go whenever we needed. It’s close to everything, though finding the place could be better signposted. I managed on my own: ask the nearby tourism agency or barber shop, then turn right after the barber shop. It’s the third door on the left. Mustafa and Yassin were welcoming and helpful, and the staff were kind and ready to sort out whatever came up. There was renovation upstairs during our stay in December 2024 and January 2025, but it didn’t disturb us at all. The beds were comfortable and clean, the shower was good with warm water, and breakfast was enough to get the day started. I think it would be hard to find a better location or accommodation for this value.

We’d booked on Booking.com two months ahead, but when we got to Marrakech the owner said there was no room and told us to find somewhere else. Our reservation was cancelled that same day, leaving us without a place to sleep. Booking.com support couldn’t help either. Avoid this place if you don’t want problems.

The worst part was the construction going on while we stayed on the first floor for two days. The whole property was coated in cement dust. My toddler woke because of the machine noise; when I told the man, he said it would be only 15 minutes, but it carried on for hours. There wasn’t even one apology. Getting there was difficult despite the directions online, and locals had to read the number listed in the details to help us find it. The person meeting us arrived 20 minutes late, so we waited on the road with my toddler until neighbors kindly let us into their riad next door. The place seemed to have been shut for quite a while, and the damp rooms were uncomfortable. I know places need repairs in the off-season, but they could have cancelled our booking ahead of time. It felt like they let this happen just to earn a few extra bucks. I’d been encouraged by the earlier great reviews, but this turned into one of my most horrible stays. Let me know if this works for you!
