Riad Dar Anika

What stayed with me most was how personal the hospitality felt. Fatima and Manal greeted us with traditional Moroccan ghawa, then talked us through the riad and the city. They sorted out our restaurant, hammam, and tour reservations right away, always with a smile. It felt like being in our own villa, with staff ready to help. The old city location is hard to beat, just steps from the bazaars and main sights, so we could walk everywhere. Breakfast was excellent, and tea and coffee were available whenever we wanted. Our room was comfortable, beautifully decorated, and full of Moroccan character. Riad Dar Anika is a grand traditional home turned into an intimate, luxurious riad. I travel often and have stayed in hotels around the world, but this was one of my most memorable stays. We arrived as guests and were treated like honored ones. I absolutely loved it, and would recommend it for a warm, distinctive Marrakech experience.

The staff were genuinely lovely and always ready to help, and the free bottled water and welcome biscuits were thoughtful touches. The location is also handy: close enough to walk to Jemaa el-Fnaa and the souks, but near a main road taxis can reach. I’ve stayed in a riad in Marrakesh before, so this is an objective review. Our Room 7 was beside a housekeeping area on the ground floor, and it was noisy through the day. Sound also carried from upstairs, including every toilet flush and shower, and from the central area through the doors. The fridge didn’t work even turned up, so I unplugged it because it was noisy. The safe wasn’t fixed to the wall, bathroom toiletries had little space, the wardrobes seemed tired, and the floor mats could use refreshing. There was no natural light, since the window faced reception and was blocked for privacy. The rooftop “pool” is a small jacuzzi. It was empty during our high season stay, though the staff might have filled it if we’d asked. Check-in also took a while after our journey. It’s an OK riad with a great team and convenient location, but didn’t feel as relaxing or well-kept as others I’ve stayed in. I’d probably choose somewhere else next time.

We had a fabulous time with you in Marrakesh, Riad Anika team. The service and location are top notch, and the rooms are fabulous and comfortable, with a good choice of pillows, an excellent shower, and a quality mattress. If I had one suggestion, it would be to offer fresh fruit each day, not only on arrival. Well done!

The riad and room looked beautiful and were clean, and breakfast was tasty. Still, this was the last of the five riads we stayed in during our time in Marrakech, and it didn’t live up to its five-star rating. There was almost no sound barrier between rooms. We could clearly hear the neighboring guest talking from 12-1am, as well as everything happening in the riad’s central area through the doors. The shower was the other major problem: its temperature control didn’t work, swinging from freezing cold to scalding hot.
