The staff were accommodating, including arranging transportation when we arrived at 1:00am. They gave us a guide on our first arrival because getting there meant navigating lots of tiny alleys. They also arranged laundry, but it came back wet. The riad is a long way from luxury. The room heater didn't work while it was cold, and the water pressure nearly disappeared when several people showered at once. A couple of times the water was shut off without warning. Dinner had to be ordered ahead, and I saw no sign of a bar or spa. For the same money, we could have found better rooms, but it was an adventure.

Inside, Riad Essaada is beautiful, and our room was very clean. Breakfast was good, and the staff were lovely and helpful. A first-time visitor may have trouble finding it, since it's tucked deep in the old Medina's narrow streets.

We needed somewhere at very short notice after our original riad cancelled less than 24 hours before, and they accommodated us wonderfully. Everyone was friendly and understanding. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the triple room was lovely. The toilet and shower had no doors or curtains, though they were tucked into a secluded part of the room. That could suit solo travellers or couples better than some other groups. Breakfast, served from 8am, was amazing. The young man even got up before 8 to have it ready because we needed an early start. At first the riad was hard to find, but the next day he walked us out to the main street and explained the route back. Look for Le Jardin secret, keep the yellow jardin secret banner on your right, and walk about 30 yards. On your right there's a small street entrance with 'Derb Habib Allah' above it. Go down that alley and follow the red wall markings for Riad Essada: right, left, right, left, right. As three women, we felt safe walking that little street to and from the main road. It's a 10 minute walk to the main square and 5 minutes to Rue dar el Glaoui, where taxis and cars are available. Payment has to be in cash, either euros or dirhams.

The riad was very clean and professionally run. It's well placed, close to the busy areas but far enough away to be quiet. We had an excellent stay in this lovely place and would recommend it.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, especially Fatima, who was a great host and shared lots of Marrakech tips. It's a very nice, clean riad right in the Medina. I'd definitely come back.
