The riad is quiet and peaceful despite being right in the middle of the Medina. The roof terrace is a lovely place for breakfast, with hot air balloons visible taking off in the distance. Breakfast itself is nice and plentiful. It’s a great location, though at first it can be a little tricky to find because you’re dropped off a short walk away. The staff are lovely. The accommodation is basic, but clean and well maintained.

We stayed 10 days and found the menu a little repetitive, though a few dinners out made that work out fine. The restaurant food was fresh, tasty, and traditional, and the service was great. The staff were wonderful, welcoming, and helpful. Our room was on the top floor, bright and convenient for the restaurant and solarium. The AC ran continuously, which was useful in Marrakech’s high August temperatures. Riad Tzizwit is very close to the main square, on a side street off one of the Medina’s nicest streets.

I had a very poor experience here. The corridor has plastic plants partly blocking the way to the rooms, which made walking through uncomfortable and felt unsafe. The doors are extremely old, badly fitted, and don’t close properly. There are visible gaps, so someone outside can see into the room. A glass panel above the door also lets corridor light flood the room, making it impossible to sleep when the lights are on. The air conditioning didn’t work on the first night, and I was extremely cold. Marrakech nights can be cold, but no solution was offered. I ended up getting sick. The bathroom was so small I had to maneuver carefully just to get in and move around. Breakfast was terrible, very poor, and honestly misleading. They mix natural orange juice with artificial juice, and most of what’s served is foam. The food quality was very low, and I couldn’t eat it. I was given burnt pancakes with peanuts, even though they’re supposed to be made with almonds. When I complained and asked for a refund, I was told the money would be returned. Almost a month has passed and I’ve received nothing, not even for the freezing night or the breakfasts I couldn’t eat. The whole experience felt dishonest and profit-driven, with corners cut everywhere to get as much money as possible from guests. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Deep Morocco Tours put my whole itinerary together, and staying at this riad was one of the highlights. It feels like a real Marrakech treasure: authentic and relaxing, with modern comforts as well.

The main drawback for me was getting around the hotel. There’s no lift, and the staircases are narrow, so reaching the rooms and roof terrace was a bit tricky with my dodgy knees. Still, I’d recommend staying here, right in the middle of the action. I was in room 8 for one night. I’d heard it can get too warm because of where the AC unit is, so I left it running day and night and got the room cool enough for a decent sleep. The room was an adequate size, with a comfy bed. Breakfast was continental and more than adequate, served on the roof terrace. The hotel is just inside the Medina from the main square, down a narrow, gloomy alley at the end. It was perfectly fine and safe, even when I got back at 1am. Staff were attentive, friendly, and welcoming.
