The quiet inside was a real plus. Even with the main square close by, the Riad felt peaceful and cooler than outside. It’s also only about a five-minute walk to the square and the souks, which made it an easy base for exploring Marrakech. The staff were warm and polite. Zakaria speaks English well and greeted us each evening, asking how our day had gone in a way that made the place feel a little like home. The breakfast staff were lovely too. We enjoyed the bread and little pancakes, though there was more sweetness than we were used to. The room was clean and comfortable, the shower got as hot as we wanted, and while the beds may feel firm to some, we slept well. They even served breakfast early at 08:15 on our departure day, instead of the usual 08:30 to 10:00, so we could eat calmly before heading to the airport. We had a fantastic stay, and I think couples would especially enjoy it.

The Riad is right in the center, surrounded by a lot of history and culture. Even though the location looked a little dangerous to us at first, nobody bothered us and we felt really safe there. The staff were professional and friendly, and the place had a lot of cultural character. There were only two of us, though originally more people were supposed to come. From the start, Zakaria quietly made sure things were easy and suited what we were interested in. He took care of everything without drama or stress. This was more than just a stay, it’s an experience I’d like to relive.

We left a day early because we felt so uncomfortable. The rooms were dirty, worn down, and clearly needed repairs. We thought we had booked one room with two double beds, but were given two separate rooms instead. One of us had to go outside to use the toilet in the other room, which was very inconvenient. The riad is down an alley, and the barber nearby verbally abused us whenever we walked past. The man running the riad was genuinely nice and helpful, and for the service alone I would have given five stars, but the room and the situation made the stay a bad one.

Getting there at 1:30 in the morning could have been difficult, but they arranged an airport taxi and sent someone to guide us through the medina since the car couldn't enter. We might not have found our way on our own. The location is close to the souks without being too noisy, and the staff were so kind and attentive. The rooms were a little small and not especially comfortable, but they did the job. Breakfast was much like what we had elsewhere in Morocco, with egg, juice, bread and local bread, a pancake, tea or coffee, a little cheese, jam, olives, and peanut butter. It was a pretty complete spread. They also held our luggage when we asked, though it was left in the patio and didn't seem very secure. Still, it was cool staying in a Riad.

Zakaria made everything feel easy, sorting out our activities on very little notice and helping with anything we needed. When we got lost at night, he came to find us in the square, and since we were travelling for my friend's birthday, he surprised us with a cake and candles. He was lovely from start to finish and went well beyond what we expected. The Riad itself was beautiful and very clean, with a lovely rooftop and sofas for relaxing in the sun. Breakfast was phenomenal. We couldn't have asked for a better stay at Riad les 2 Portes. Thank you for everything!
