A good choice if you want to relax during the day and sleep peacefully in the city center. The building and decor follow the local culture, and the interior is extremely luxurious, like Baghia Palace. All the windows face the inner courtyard, and some rooms have no windows. That’s a big advantage, since you don’t hear the morning prayers and can sleep quietly. The pool is cold, just right for cooling off, and the water is very clean. Breakfast is classic French style, with bread, butter, jam, pancakes, juice, and coffee or tea. If you’re looking for bars, hotel restaurants, or spaces for tips, this definitely isn’t the place for you.

The tagine dinner was the best food we had all week, and the staff made us feel at home. We stayed six days in November 2025, two women visiting from the UK, and had a great time for the price. The rooms are very basic, the beds aren’t especially comfortable, and the bathrooms could be cleaner, but we’ve seen much worse. If you’re using it as a base and have realistic expectations, it works fine. Breakfast was bread with jam, honey and cheese; dinner was either a homemade tagine or, when it was late, pizza or a wrap from somewhere nearby. It’s about a 20-minute walk to the main square and souqs, with plenty of shops and places to eat along the way. There’s no sign outside the Riad, though Google Maps leads you to it. A local showed us the entrance, and I’ve added photos of it. There’s no soap in the rooms, so bring some or buy it there. Some of the reviews seem unfair given how inexpensive the stay is.

Staying in the Kasbah made getting around easy: the street is lively and full of restaurants, and Jemaa el-Fna is about a 15-minute walk away. As a woman travelling alone, I felt safe in the riad and nearby. The room was clean, and I had no problems with it. This is a low-cost stay, so I’m not sure why people expect five-star luxury. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and it felt a bit like visiting family. Jamal and Mohammed were there whenever I needed something, and a lovely, smiley woman cleaned the room each day. I’d recommend it if you want somewhere affordable, safe and well located in Marrakech.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, and my room was tidied every day while I was out. We stayed at riad nouhal for four nights and four days before heading back to the UK. At the price, it was worth it, as Rue da la kasbah put most places within a 10- to 20-minute walk, from Jama El Fina to Bahia Palace. It’s a busy area with plenty of shops. The old traditional building sits up an alley and was hard to find at first, but once we knew the way, it was easy. It has rooms across three floors, a pool on the ground floor, and an open rooftop terrace where breakfast is served. The room was gloomy, and the toilet area felt cramped to get in and out of. There was always water available, though it tasted strange and wasn’t pleasant to drink. There was no kettle or drinking water provided, so bring a travel kettle and bottled water. It’s a basic riad, so don’t expect grand treatment; stay as you would in a hotel.

Mohammed kindly put together a small breakfast early for us when we had morning trips, even though breakfast is normally served from 8:30-10. The staff were really understanding, and the Riad feels small but cosy for the price. It’s traditional, and I loved the layout and charm of it. The pool isn’t large, but it stays refreshingly cool and was clean. The breakfast was great too. I’ve seen some unfair reviews, as this Riad is lovely for what it costs.
