Riad Hotel El Kennaria

Sleep was impossible most of the week. The rooftop music went on until midnight every evening, after a full day of drilling, and Wi-Fi barely worked. The bed linen was dirty when I arrived. I stayed at El Kennaria in Marrakech for a week, and it was easily the worst accommodation experience I’ve had. Construction was happening directly above and around my room every day from 9 AM to 8 PM, with hammering, drilling, and sawing from the first morning to the last. Staff told me each day that it was the last day, but it continued all week. The facilities were unusable and unhygienic. There was one bath and two toilets for around 30 rooms. The bath was filthy and had no light. The toilets were cramped and dirty, with no soap or sink, and sometimes construction workers used them too. My room had no windows or daylight, the air conditioning didn’t work even on nights around 30°C, and the ceiling fan only ran when the lights were on. I had to choose between bright light to sleep or unbearable heat. Staff also behaved in ways I found intimidating. Several times they tried to open my door without knocking. When I raised the conditions, they stopped communicating and pressured me not to complain. I felt unsafe. The place was misrepresented, noisy, unsanitary, and unsafe. I spent the week exhausted instead of enjoying my holiday. I’ve reported it to Travellink and plan to send documentation and video evidence to the relevant consumer authorities. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

The rooftop restaurant has a beautiful view, and I highly recommend the place. The staff were amazing, helpful, and so nice. The waiter from Photo was the best, telling us what to do in Marocco and recommending places. Hassan made us the best iced coffee. Our room was very clean and got cleaned every day. Breakfast was delicious, with fresh orange juice, iced coffee, and water.

The location is hard to beat, right in the city center and handy for exploring. We enjoyed the delicious breakfast and spotless rooms, and the rooftop views were lovely too. The staff were exceptionally kind, even packing breakfast for our early departure. They also arranged a transfer that arrived right on time, making the trip stress free. Highly recommend for the service and location!

The food was great, the service was the best, and the mountain view was incredible.
