Riad Utopia Suites & Spa

Even in bustling Marrakech, the Riad was clean and peaceful, a real oasis. The staff were wonderful, friendly, and so helpful. We couldn't fault a thing about our stay.

A huge disappointment. At $250 usd a night, I got a windowless room that seemed to be a converted supply room beside a restaurant. There was no air in it, and restaurant noise kept me awake at night and again in the morning, when breakfast starts at 7:30. The room is 18m sq, but a concrete tub takes up about 60% of it, making the space feel even more cramped than a capsule hotel. The tub is raised and takes stairs to climb into; much of its back has even been cut away to make entry easier. It holds less than a foot of water, so it's basically useless as a tub. There was no luggage storage, just two tiny closets by the bed. A TV straight out of the 2k era sticks a foot out from the wall at about 4ft high and blocks the path to the bed, a hazard at night. With a 20ft ceiling, it seems like it could have been mounted out of the way, but that would have taken some thought. The light switches are a puzzle too: you need the right combination of two switches just to turn on one light.

The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and breakfast was lovely. The manager and staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. It's very well priced, and I'd highly recommend it.

Really clean, quiet, and run by very nice staff. Fantastic Riad, definitely recommend staying here.
