Ali was especially kind and helpful, and I was really happy with both the room and the service during my two-night stay. I’d happily stay here again if I come back, and would definitely recommend it. Thanks, everyone!

The people working here are lovely: polite, friendly, and efficient. Riad Viva itself is a beautiful place in a great part of Marrakech, and after nearly a century it still feels among the very best. I suspect it dates from the early 20th century, with an elegant 1920s feel. The layout works really well, and the luxurious details include hand-cut zellij tiles, carved plaster and natural wood, plus tan marble floors throughout. I can’t say enough good things about it, and highly recommend it.

The rooftop is nice and the interior of the riad is lovely. It sits a bit farther in than some others, so finding it the first time can be confusing. What happened overnight made the stay uncomfortable for us. We had to knock to get into the building because we were given only a room key, not a key to the main door. Around midnight another guest let us in as they were leaving. Early the next morning, the night-shift worker unlocked our bedroom door and came inside while we were asleep. We were really spooked. He left quickly when he saw we were awake, then said at breakfast that he wanted to “check we had come back.” Our belongings were in the room, and we were asleep, so we found it very strange and felt unsettled for the rest of the trip. For that reason alone, I probably wouldn’t return, which is a shame.

Getting luggage there takes a little effort because cars can only reach a point a few blocks away. Meriem handled taxis efficiently, though, and shared great tips for local attractions. She also arranged massages for us, which helped make the trip relaxing. That tucked-away location gives the riad a peaceful feel away from the busy city. My friend Malin and I spent three wonderful nights at Riad Viva. Meriem, our host, Amine, and the rest of the team were genuinely warm and welcoming. We especially appreciated being able to check in early and leave late. The traditional Moroccan design and calm atmosphere were lovely, and Amine served a thoughtfully prepared, nicely presented breakfast each morning. We enjoyed eating in the quiet of the riad. The staff’s care made our first trip to Morocco a wonderful introduction. Thank you for making it unforgettable.

We were a couple from Norway and stayed for almost a week in November ’23. The room was excellent and decorated in Moroccan style, though I can’t remember its name. It could sleep four, with a double bed and two sleeping sofas, and had a separate bathroom. Breakfast was served on the nice roof terrace, just one flight of stairs up. There’s also a small square bath for cooling off, though we didn’t need it in November. The riad is near the royal palace, which had been erased from Google Maps, and it’s a short walk to the center. Since the area is pedestrian-only, you have to walk a few metres to reach taxis. Radouan and Ahmed were especially friendly and helpful. We had a great stay.
