Our three-day trip from Marrakesh to Merzouga was a great Moroccan experience. Ali, our guide, was incredibly kind and knew a lot. During the long drive he shared plenty of local insight, but also knew when to let things stay relaxed. He got us to places just ahead of the crowds and helped us find good lunch prices. We loved the camp, and paying extra for the luxury tent was worth it. The camel ride was a good length, and bringing a sandboard along made it more fun. I'd happily recommend Ali as a driver.

The views were so good that we had a great time, and riding ATVs ended up being our favorite part. Breakfast at the camp was another standout, with a really good selection. Omar was a great guide, and the camp itself was beautiful. I recommend paying extra for a luxury tent, since it comes with a private bathroom and hot water, as well as lovely sunrise and sunset views. The changeover from the transfer to the desert trek was a bit disorganized. We were passed to a camel driver who didn't seem sure where to go, and we got a little lost. It was freezing and very windy even in March, so layer up.

There were some good parts, but the way Hassan, who seemed to be the manager, and a few other employees treated us left the experience disappointing. Hassan, who had rastas, was repeatedly distant and arrogant, then rude and dismissive when we tried to get what we'd booked. It was eventually sorted out. The evening camel ride was a mess. The young guide, Youssef (?), seemed in a terrible mood, gave no instructions or warnings, and ignored questions. When two women asked him to film them, he made an annoyed noise and didn't do it, so I offered to take a video from my camel. The ride just went in a circle past other tourist groups, more like an amusement park than a desert outing. After about 30 minutes we got back in the jeep and it took us to the tent. The camp dinner was pretty good, and the staff there tried to get people dancing and playing music, but our mood and that of some other guests had already soured. Our tent was nice and had a private bathroom and hot shower, but no heating, so it became freezing overnight. The next morning's quad trip cost a whopping 50€ per person and was a huge letdown. We drove very slowly in a line behind another young guide who seemed completely unmotivated. After 20 minutes he left us on a dune in the dark, took the quad keys, and drove away without saying anything. We were left with no information or communication. He'd also left the snowboard, so we guessed we were meant to try sandboarding by ourselves. It wasn't interesting or fun. He came back after half an hour, watched the sunrise with us, and suddenly had a better attitude, taking pictures. Then we drove back at the same slow pace in single file. I wouldn't recommend this camp. There are plenty of other options.

The camp was stunning, and the service was excellent. Our tents had all the facilities we needed, and as a vegetarian I found plenty of good food options. Mr. Ibrahim took great care of us in the restaurant, and Mr. Hassan arranged a really good trip with everything included.

Our trip with Hassan went beyond what we expected. Everything was arranged carefully, from pickup in the parking lot to the planned stops and other details. He communicated well and was easy to deal with. The camel ride to the village was a great experience, and our guide kept telling us about desert life and culture along the way. The camel handlers and camp staff were helpful and checked whether we needed anything without being pushy. The tents felt very luxurious, with hot water, Wi-Fi, and power sockets, and nothing was missing during the night. Dinner was the best meal I had in Morocco, and breakfast was very good too. Great staff and attitude all around. I'd recommend going with Hassan.
