L'Alcazar

The rooftop view was impeccable, especially at sunset. The riad itself was beautiful and only a short walk from most of the sites. I had a pleasant stay, and the staff were welcoming and helpful.

It was surprisingly quiet, a great choice for light sleepers. The riad is beautiful, with a lovely rooftop for sitting or taking a dip in the small pool. The location is very convenient, about a three minute walk from Kasbah, right inside the Medina but beside the road for easy taxi access, and within walking distance of the train station. Our room was one of the smaller ones, but enough for us, with toiletries and very good cleanliness. Breakfast was generous, with yoghurt, fruit salad, pancakes, eggs made to order, juice, coffee, bread, and jams. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

The people were great, always willing to help. Still, I wouldn't call this a four star hotel.

Some of the staff were friendly and the location was fine, but that was about all I liked. Our room smelled of sewage and had mosquitos, and it was hot. You had to ask reception to switch on the AC, which seemed ridiculous, and even then it wasn't strong enough to cool the room properly. Breakfast came as whatever they chose to serve, with no options. They also didn't tell us the minibar cost extra. At checkout they checked what we'd taken and then chased us for payment, which felt wild. I know it's an old building, but I don't think it's suitable for hosting people. I'd spend my time and money elsewhere.
