Riad Dar Rabiaa

The people working here were incredibly kind, and we had no trouble storing our luggage. Our room was large, private, and comfortable. The terrace and dining area were cute, and breakfast was great. The location is perfect, right in the middle of the medina, with the Kasbah within walking distance. It's on a quiet street too. We didn't mind, but there are a lot of stairs to reach rooms on the top floors, in case that's a concern.

The staff make you feel really welcome and looked after, and the hotel is clean and pleasant throughout. My room has air-conditioning, and breakfast has been lovely. It’s also well placed, close to everything. I’m staying here now and can’t think of a fault. If you’re trying somewhere new for a few days, I’d definitely recommend it.

I booked months ahead for the busy AFCON period in Rabat, but a few weeks before my trip they cancelled, blaming “overbooking.” All they offered was an apology and a lower-category riad, which defeats the point. It feels like they pushed us out to make more money. I wouldn’t recommend this place. They’re very unreliable and unprofessional.

The courtyard was peaceful at breakfast, which was fresh and carefully prepared, and our room was clean and comfortable. We spent three nights at Riad Dar Rabiaa and liked its understated, elegant mix of Moroccan tradition and modern minimalism. It sits just inside the modern medina, close enough to walk to the sea and many of Rabat’s main sights. A couple of things made it hard to fully relax. There was never hot water in the mornings, so we couldn’t shower, and staff talking, laughing, and playing music on loudspeakers in the early afternoon made it difficult to rest after travel. I wish they’d been more considerate of the quiet. We might return, but would hope for a more restful stay, with daytime noise kept down and hot water available. With more attention to those comforts, this could be a top-tier place.
