Riad Marlinea

We slept really well for both nights. Inside the riad it was peaceful and quiet, and the beds were the most comfortable we had during our week in Morocco, softer than the ones in the other cities. The hosts were lovely and did their best to make guests comfortable, and it was great to stay in a real riad. Finding it can be tricky without phone roaming for Google Maps. If you have the phone number, though, the taxi driver or locals can call the riad for directions. It's in Sale medina, a bit far to walk to the city center, so we took the tram to Rabat medina. It was easy: tickets cost 6 DH at a staffed booth or in the machine.

I only stayed from 10pm until 10:30 the next morning, so I can't give a thorough review. The old city's location felt sketchy, though the people working there were friendly. The person managing the Airbnb profile was petty and rude. He first gave me an okay rating, apparently, then saw I'd mentioned the slow WiFi and sent me a direct message chewing me out over various complaints about my stay, none of which he'd included in his review of me. That was my only bad experience during five days in Morocco. I loved everything else about the country and its people.

The room and riad were nice, but the neighborhood wasn't, and one night was enough for me. Breakfast was very poor, and they charged us 8,800 MAD in city taxes. We should have paid around 2,000 MAD each, but ended up paying double. There wasn't a bottle of water in the hotel or at breakfast.

A very nice, clean place with good hosts and air conditioning. I was looking for an authentic feel of Morocco, and it had that. There's no vehicle access, so you have to walk about 5-10 minutes to find a taxi. The best coffee I ever had was served here at breakfast.
