Really great.
The setting in the middle of a small Berber village is wonderfully peaceful, with beautiful views across the Happy Valley. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast, and ate very well. We'd happily recommend the hotel.
The breakfast was good, and the place is right in the middle of town, but getting there is a real problem. The path is so narrow, steep, and rocky that it feels like it's "Suitable for Donkeys Only." You can only reach it on foot, so even a small mobility issue would make it impossible. You also have to take your shoes off at the entrance, which we hadn't been asked to do at any other place in Morocco. As for the stay itself, our rooms had no toilets, and one had a broken windowpane. The shared toilet had no paper, there were no towels, and the lighting was very poor. They wouldn't move lunch even half an hour earlier, though every other hotel in Morocco changed the time for us without any trouble. They quoted one price, then the manager arrived and raised it. Tabant may be a small town, but this "hostel" barely meets the basics. If you can, stay somewhere else.
Breakfast was absolutely delicious, and the staff were lovely. Our room was roomy and clean, with a shower, toilet, and a kitchenette available if needed. There was also private parking for motorcycles.
The Berber omelet at breakfast was a real highlight, one we'll remember fondly. We were warmly welcomed by Mohammed, his wife, and their children. The room was big, everything was clean, and dinner was delicious. Thank you!
