A friendly older couple run this family hostel on the main street. The food was tasty and came in generous portions, and there are rooms both with and without bathrooms. The rooms themselves are simple. I had no hot water or Wi-Fi, and barely any mobile reception, so I was without internet, which I found annoying.

does not keep his word means “does not keep his word.” I called the guesthouse a day before we arrived to arrange lunch for three. During an eight-minute call, we agreed on both the price and what the meal would include. But when I called again two hours before we got there the next day, nothing had been prepared. He told me, “just look elsewhere for lunch,” then hung up. My honest advice is never to trust this guesthouse. Book somewhere else.

The house was beautifully decorated, and the tajine was delicious. Mohamed was a kind, welcoming host, and I really enjoyed my stay. It was a quiet night, with thick, warm sheets. I recommend staying here.

We had a fantastic night at this guest house, despite a few issues with the toilet. The people running it were very friendly, and the tajine was hands down the best we've ever had. The Happy Valley feels amazingly alive among the otherwise rather dead, dry Atlas mountains. I'd definitely recommend stopping here on a trip through the Atlas.
