Those old paintings and historic photos along the hallways were a lovely surprise. The room was spacious, nicely decorated, and had a comfortable bed and a hot shower. I stayed one night and got exactly what I was hoping for, including coffee from the hotel's own café in the morning. The reception guys were friendly and helpful. Quiet, clean, convenient, and good value.

The hotel is across from the ocean, so the room gets sunshine and a pleasant breeze. It was very clean and comfortable, and clearly well looked after. There’s heating, AC, a TV with two English movie channels, and a mini fridge in the room.

Marco Polo was well located, close to the center of the medina, and the receptionist was helpful. For the price of a double room, though, I expected two large shower towels, but we found just one. A basic breakfast included would have made the price feel more reasonable.

The city is right around the corner, and for now you can still enjoy the wide staircases and corridors at prices from years ago. This is the last of the old grand hotels along the harbor before the characterless modern buildings take over. It’s nearing the end of a major renovation. There’s no elevator or dining room.

I’ve stayed here at least four or five times, and I’m already looking forward to coming back. The location is perfect, the rooms are spotless, and the reception staff are kind and helpful. Once I left my phone in a taxi, and the night receptionist helped me track it down. It’s just the kind of place you want to stay. Go ahead and book.
