Riad Taroudant

A good spot to pause for a rest day if you have time. The owner was really kind and encouraged me to take my time before checking in so I could freshen up and rest. There’s hot water and the WiFi works well. It’s quiet, and even though sounds carry a little in the building, everyone was considerate. It also stays fairly cool indoors when it’s 96f/36c outside. I was travelling by bicycle and could store it inside, near the staircase, behind the front reception door, which was almost always locked. It felt very safe. I imagine you could bring it into your room too, but I didn’t ask. Thanks so much.

The two-bedroom apartment worked well for the four of us, since each room had its own bathroom. The woman hosting was very kind, and so was her dog Vicky. We had dinner on the Riad’s lovely terrace after a little walk through the local souk (market) to buy fruit, which is about all there is to do in the city. Dinner can be ordered ahead and tasted good, though be careful with the wine, the final bill can be surprisingly expensive.

The staff were so attentive and sweet, always checking that we were comfortable and had what we needed. After a good night’s sleep, we had a delicious home-cooked breakfast on the rooftop, with great city views. Riad Taroudant is just a few steps from the main square but feels peaceful and away from the city noise. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and there’s AC. The pool is a lovely way to cool off from the heat. A great place to stay in this small, busy city.

That breakfast was a proper meal for the day, not a token one, which is unusual in Morocco, especially at a budget hotel. The staff were fantastic and helpful, the place was pleasant to stay in, and the romantic roof garden and dreamlike pool made it feel like a dream.
